Rediculousness

Quick Post

Thursday, April 26

Ok, I'm procrastinating becuase I'm supposed to teach a class tomorrow and not feeling in the mood to actually prepare right now... and I wanted to share with you two great things I've discovered in the past couple of months that came together tonight. Both are music related.

So first is Andrew Bird. I'm sold in him and I love his music. The fact that I didn't hear about him sooner hurts a little. I think he's from Chicago, plays the violin among other things and is a great song writer. His latest cd just came out "Armchair Apocrypha" and it's marvelous so get it.

He was also featured on blogotheque.net which is a site I ran into a few weeks ago. This is the coolest thing and you must check it out. Along with a great music blog (in french...) there is a weekly video on generally an up and coming indie band. This week was Andrew Bird. You can also get these on video podcast but my computer is too crappy to handle it right now but if yours can I suggest you subscribe. Check it out.

I'm An Artist!

Saturday, April 21

I think it's impressive for a first try... and next was a joint effort with my co artist but I'm taking full credit for the pink. Not sure if I'll put them up for auction or not but I'll open the bidding at $1 million if you're interested.

Spelling

Most of you who know me know that spelling is not my strong point. After spending some time with the kids that eat glue in the "special class" in grade 3 I discovered that I wasn't all that slow, that glue doesn't taste good and that somewhere in my brain where things are spelled was a busy doing something else.

It should come as no surprise then that I've never played Scrabble. In fact the very thought of a game of spelling is repulsive and sounds way to much like when teachers try to pass off math as a game. So I was a little horrified that my girlfriend claimed it as one of her favorite games. So a couple of weeks ago I decided to surprise her and picked up the game despite my gut reaction to run when I see those little wooden letters.

As it turns out I'm not half bad at scrabble. I wouldn't say it's super fun but there was definitely a thrill when I put down "hipster" for 30+ points. In the end I lost the game, or did I. See Jodie was using the internet as a dictionary which I quickly realized would allow her to use any combination of letters and claim it was a word. I'm pretty sure I won but you be the judge. Words that are not words tend to be hers and I'm not sure I'll ever trust her again if she cheats at spelling. Right up there with stealing lollipops from babies while they're sucking on them.

Blog Me Please

Sunday, April 15

So it's awful. I've been slowly killing my blog. I got half way through a revamp a couple weeks ago and haven't had time to finish it yet. I've sadly been neglecting writing in it because work has been so busy but I've decided to make a renewed effort in the next couple of weeks to turn it all around so I'll do what I can for my adoring public.

I will save you blog!

Rediculous

Saturday, April 7

Yes I know I created a whole new spelling with rediculous.

I'm coining it the way Colbert did truthiness and if you don't like it watch this video. Actually it's just a seriously cute song from a little french group Soko.

If you search for it the mp3 single is available to download.
